The Alliance
Case Study + Branding + Web Design
Ouelessebougou Alliance ("The Alliance") is a local non-profit organization who assists villagers in Mali to become self-reliant in education, health and nutrition.
OVERVIEW —
Although donations are exceptionally and gratefully received, there is always room for more. Our vision was to assist The Alliance in their efforts of receiving more donations and funds to benefit the people of Mali. We approached a new target market of a younger audience by promoting micro-donations to millenials. This helped embrace the colorful and motivational stories which the people of Mali so expressively portray.

PROCESS —
To evaluate the basic quality of OA’s website and user experience, we conducted research using a heuristic markup. This helped us to understand how a user might experience the website from an educational and monetary perspective. In our efforts we discovered some holes and questions that users generally face when looking at The Alliance’s website at first glance. This allowed us to bridge the gap between establishing trust with a non-profit organization and those who feel comfortable donating.
SURVEY + DISCOVERY —
Surveys revealed that most millennials who aren’t making regular donations to non-profit organizations struggled to trust that their money will be put to good use. They hadn’t found an organization they were passionate enough about to donate to.
We prototyped three new versions of the landing page, allowing users to expand their understanding of The Alliance’s mission. This helped establish purpose and gain trust in an organic way.
"The Alliance brought education and health training to our village and now we can provide for ourselves."

CONCLUSION —
Our rebrand and web design gave The Alliance the update they needed to feel current. Setting up categories established trust and made the idea tangible that users could specifically choose what their donations, whether they were micro or macro, would be going towards. Emphasizing that The Alliance uses funds to help villagers become self reliant was a turning point for users as well.
